Basketball Australia allocates the number of bids each state is entitled to on an annual basis. This allocation is done based upon the results of the previous year's National Club Championship.

The allocation given to Basketball Victoria includes one automatic invitation that Basketball Victoria extend to the winner of the Country Victorian Championship (or similar) for that particular year.

All teams who compete in the Victorian Championship League are eligible to qualify under this selection criteria.

Bids will be extended to teams as follows:

2 positions
1st Ashe & 1st Watson

3 positions
1st Ashe & 1st Watson
Challenge Match to determine 3rd position (2nd Ashe vs 2nd Watson)

4 positions
1st & 2nd from Ashe and Watson

5 positions
1st & 2nd from Ashe and Watson
Challenge Match to determine 5th position (3rd Ashe vs 3rd Watson)

6 positions
1st, 2nd, & 3rd from Ashe and Watson

Any Challenge matches that are required will be scheduled by the League as close to the completion of round #9 as possible.

Management holds the right to use their discretion in exceptional circumstances throughout this process.
