Dear Junior Panel Member,

Welcome to all the new Junior Panel referees and a big welcome back to last year’s referees.

Uniform for Junior Panel is Black and White shirt, Black Pants (not track pants), Black Runners, Whistle and black Lanyard.
 
As Junior Panel referees you will be evaluated on some games.
Listen to the Referee Coach, you may not like what they say but they are only trying to help you out. If you do not agree go away and think about what has been discussed. If you are still not happy get in touch with Bill Mildenhall (9927 6666) and he will discuss further your concerns and try to help you out.

The stadium address list is on the VJBL web site.  Please ensure you use this as some of the abbreviations are very similar, don’t use the excuse, I went to the wrong venue as a reason for being late to your games; the information is available so please print it of and use it. 

As a Junior Panel referee you are expected to travel to country areas, I will try to limit this to only once or twice in the season for each of you.

Travel money is paid for all *country trips, however you will need to travel together as this is a single payment (i.e. payment will be for 1 car only per session).  A travel form is available on the VJBL web site you will need to completed after your trip and sent to me to be processed and paid.
*Please note; that travel money is not paid for Geelong to Werribee or return.

The rosters are completed once a month and are for a 4 week period.  Could you please take the time now to have a look over the roster and make sure you are available!  Don’t forget to note it in your diaries.

You are expected to find your own replacement I can help out some times but I have to go through rosters same as you to find who will be available.

The rosters will be placed on the VJBL website under “Referees” (www.vjbl.com.au) and also on the VBRA website (www.vbra.basketball.net.au). Please also try to keep up with the VBRA web site as these guys are getting very innovative with this site and helping to keep the referees informed.

 

If you are aware of any dates that you will be unavailable please inform me of the details so I can leave you off the roster for those dates.  Once the roster has been placed on the website it will be your responsibility to find your own replacement and advise me of the change. 

I would not expect to receive any calls on Friday advising me you cannot referee that night – This is something I do not appreciate nor is taken lightly.

Please note failure to turn up without sufficient notification will most likely be referred to the referee’s tribunal. This has already occurred this year with the referee getting 6 weeks suspension so take note.  Remember if you are suspended as a referee you are suspended in all forms, no coaching, playing etc.

You are expected to referee on the June long weekend either the under 12/14 or the under 16/18 national junior championships.  I will be sending invitations in about April and would like to think that you would all be available to referee these great events.

On a regular basis we meet to discuss currant issues and things a head, these groups called the NRDP (National Referees Development Program) & SRDP (State Referees Development Program) I will email you prior to the meetings so you are able to attend, please try to make them as often as you can they are valuable sessions and keeps everyone on the same page.

Remember at all times I am always available if you have a problem but I cannot solve any thing if I do not know about it.
